The Gift of a Smile   By Sierra Pleima

Proverbs 15:30 says,”A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.”

A cheerful look does not refer to a dull set of eyes with a toothy smile plastered across your face. A cheerful look is pertaining to a spirit of joy behind that smile and in those eyes.

This is pure joy, genuine happiness, and great gladness. The individual who looks at life and feasts on the joys of Christ will have a healthy and happy heart as it says in this verse found in Proverbs 15:13-15

“A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit. A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash. For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.”

Not only at this time of year are our hearts glad. We can find things to be thankful for. If we fill our minds with thankfulness and gratitude, then we can smile at the beauty of all that God has done for us. When someone smiles at me, I am filled with peace, and I feel loved. Maybe I am not directly loved by that person, but I am reminded of the immense love that God has for me because ultimately, “God IS love”! Smiling is a gift from God that we can use to invite anyone to catch a glimpse

into the love, God has for each one of us. Smile at someone; it’s contagious!
