    The Pathway to Discernment

Watch Now

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God."  Philippians 1:9,10

Love is what Paul prays, but he wants his people to have love so they can discern what is best, pure and blameless. Love is what comes first before we can discern through the Lord. Without love it is an opinion or judgment.  A judgment can be rough if notgraced in love first. When we love first discernment reveals what is best. Knowing what is good could be the enemy of knowing what is best.  Love gives us the courage to discern what is the best.

Love is the pathway for discernment to be done, and we all want to know what is best. We all want to know what pathway may be the best way to take. The best pathway is always the one of love. If there is not love on the road, then we are going the wrong way. When we try and determine what is the best way the filter for discernment is love.

If we are sensing that our ways are not love, we need to back away. As faith leaders love is the way for us from how we make decisions to how we treat others. Love is the way to discernment and without it we will be brought to a place of regret in our decision making. Knowing the right thing to do and how to do it is before us every day, and discernment is required.  However to have discernmentis the best, and to have pure and blameless love is first. Love first in all our actions will certainly solve most the issues we face daily.
