No Shame

Watch Now

BT11 7

"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death." Philippians 1:20

Another wow word straight out of the Word of God that as faith leaders we can immediately apply.  There are times when the temptation may come to be ashamed of God to the place that when we are asked to speak we are silent. We could even be asked to do something, but because we fear embarrassment we remain still. Often the temptation convinces us that we are justified in our silence and stillness, because no one else is active in their faith. Could we have convinced ourselves that we do not want to offend others, or that we may even put ourselves in a predicament if we do something out of the ordinary or unexpected?

Being ashamed comes on all of us and fighting through to obedience is what Paul was asking. With eagerness he expects that he will not be ashamed, but instead he will rise with courage to always exalt Christ. Courage releases Christ to be exalted and for our flesh to be laid low. Courage says yes continually to the exaltation of Christ in us. The question becomes, "Are we going to continue to exalt Christ which releases courage?"….

When we choose not to be ashamed of Christ and what He can do, courage is released in us and through us.  Courage gives us the strength to stand when we are tempted to sit in our faith. Many of us need to stand, and when we do we will find that being ashamed will no longer have its way. Stand up next time you’re tempted to be ashamed, and find all the courage you need.
